Description
The Irvine Spectrum Center recently completed the construction of nearly 22, square feet in a ly open area in front of the Edwards theater. The new space will hold nine tenants.
All but two spots are leased. The Irvine Company, owner of the center, is in talks with an existing tenant to relocate into the new area, said spokeswoman Jane Gillespie.
The other six tenants are Pinkberry tentatively slated to open Feb. They will all open by this summer. Last year, Brea Mall applied for a ,square-foot mall expansion.
Construction is expected to start in a few years. Last year, The Shops submitted a letter to the city, requesting to expand the mall by up tosquare feet. The owner of the MainPlace is considering an expansion that could add condominiums, a senior living complex, a hotel, office buildings and outdoor shopping to the year-old center.
The redevelopment, which the owner declined to describe in detail last year, could occur over the next three to five years. The size and cost of the project are unknown, but the additional outdoor retail space would likely occur in front of the Nordstrom and California Pizza Kitchen area on Main Street.
